The National Junior High Finals Rodeo concluded this past Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
Two members of the Humboldt County Rodeo Club took part in the week-long event, but did not make it to the short go around on Saturday night.
Julianne Montero finished 15th in her performance last Friday morning with a time of 11.86 seconds. She finished 27th overall with a combined time of 20.42. The top 20 advance to the short go-around.
Montero was 11th in her go-around on Thursday morning in a time of 15.851. She was 21st in the event overall at 31.913.
Cade Bell finished ninth in his Friday evening performance of boys goat tying in a time of 11.17 and placed 334rd overall at 22.69. He placed 12th in the Friday morning performance of chute dogging with a time of 9.52 to place 59th overall at 48.07.
Bell and Battle Mountain’s Emma Lemaire recorded a time of 18.63 in their first performance of ribbon roping, but had no time in their run on Saturday morning.
In addition, Bell took part in the boys breakaway and saddle bronc steer riding, but had no times or scores, in each performance. Bell partnered up with Jayden Jensen in the team roping, but the duo did not record a score.

Cantu was the all-around cowboy with 1,980 point and Kash Cattoe of St. George, Utah, was second. Garrett Elmore of Springer, Okla., was third.
Caxton Martin of Alma, Kan., was the all-around cowgirl with 1,160 points and Britta Strain of Davie, Fla., was second. Kaiden Ayres of Woodlake, Calif., was third.
Ethan Lomvrado of Marshville, N.C., was the rookie cowboy and Greeley Eastep of Brainbridge, Ind., was the rookie cowgirl.
Utah won the team race with 9,440 points and Nevada was 17th at 2,160.
