Wright, Brown win titles at Winnemucca Amateur

Incline’s Jordan Wright shot a 5-under par 67 last Sunday to take home the top spot at the Winnemucca Amateur held last weekend at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course. Wright shot a 135 for the two-day event. The tournament featured 25 players in the scratch division and 28 in the net division. Wright plays out of the Reno-Carson Golf Club.

Jacob Wilner, out of Reno Men’s Golf Club and the defending state champion, was second at 139 and Reno’s Kit Carson was third with a 142.

Reno’s Gustavo Chaung (145) and Fallon’s Matt Vanderbeek (146) was fifth.

John Montross, Scott Riley and Markus Zinke tied for sixth with score of 146. Louis Roman was the highest Winnemucca finisher, as he tied for ninth with Roman Mudd at 151.

Winnemucca’s Jeff Herzog tied for 11th at 152, Lee Bosch and Jeff Carter tied for 14th with scores of 155 and Chris Dendary (156) tied for 16th.

Winnemucca’s Greg Brown led the way in the net division with a 5-under par 139, outdistancing the field by one shot. Brown recorded scores of 64 and 73.

Winnemucca’s Chris Aker and Carson City’s Hi Jeppson tied for second at 4-under par 140. Fallon’s Shaun Benninghove (141) was fourth and Eureka’s Keith Logan (145) rounded out the top five.

Tom Lee and Matt Morgan tied for sixth with scores of 146, Galen Hope and Scott Anderson tied for eighth at 147 and Gary Borst and Robert Velasquez for 10th with scores of 149.
