Marcie Jo Putnam was born in Reno, Nevada, on May 17, 1965. She grew up and attended schools in Battle Mountain for most of her formative years.
She enjoyed camping, 4-wheeling, reading, computers and games, and was an ardent pet lover, especially of her horses.
Marcie had a rugged independent, pioneering spirit. She loved Nevada and spent most of her years living and working in several areas of the state, never afraid to strike out and stake a claim in a new, unfamiliar community.
She, however, spent the last several years of her life, settled down with her husband Chris in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Marcie had many good qualities but was especially known for her generosity and her gentle sense of humor, which matched her easy-going personality.
She made friends effortlessly wherever she went. She will be dearly missed.
She died of complications stemming from pancreatic cancer in the early morning hours of June 17th, attended by her husband Chris Putnam.
She is survived by her mother Crystal Whisler (Battle Mtn.), father Willard Whisler, Sr. (Battle Mtn.), brothers Russ Whisler (Michigan), James Whisler (Battle Mtn.), Willard Whisler, Jr. (Battle Mtn.), and Michael Whisler (Battle Mtn.), and sister Jeanette Raymond (Michigan).
A memorial will be held for her at the Battle Mountain Assembly of God on Saturday, June 27th, 2015, at 11:00 am.
