Fairann Mardele Fisk (May 29, 1970-July 12, 2015) passed away following a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by her sisters Fleurisa and Felicity, her paternal grandfather Walter Merril, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She leaves behind her life partner and best friend Julie Baker of Las Vegas, her parents Frank and Anita of Lovelock, her brother Frank (Ashley) and nephews Noah and Graham, of Roseburg, Oregon, and her beloved paternal grandmother Adele Fisk Guisti of Lovelock and her maternal grandmother Margaret Castillo Bonotaux of Reno. Fairann was part of a large extended family throughout the valley, throughout Nevada, and across the country.
Fairann grew up in small town Nevada, beginning first in Wadsworth before moving to Battle Mountain and then to Lovelock. She graduated from Pershing County High School with the Class of ’88. She was an athlete, playing baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, softball, and rock climbing. She loved the Cleveland Browns, boxing, and tennis. Fairann enjoyed her music, especially ‘80s heavy metal with Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, and Duran Duran. She played the trapset for her high school band and sang in the choir. Since childhood Fairann was artistic; later, she would win tremendous accolades for her art displays at Tower Records in Reno. Beginning at six weeks old, Fairann would go on fishing trips with her family, catching her first fish at three. These were great times. She had aspirations of one day joining the UNR Pep Band and of publishing her writings. She was always intrigued with tattoos and aspired to become a tattoo artist and open her own business. Fairann could quote verbatim hundreds of movie passages and identify a song and its singer with the fewest of hints. She knew Pop culture like the back of her hand. She had the skills and talent to create beauty and wonder wherever she went. Fairann was a loyal friend and a fierce competitor. She will be missed by all who loved and adored her and were lucky enough to have shared even a small part of her amazing life.
Fairann Fisk was a proud member of the Te-Moak Shoshone Indian Tribe and remained a strong supporter of equal rights for all people. A celebration of Fairann’s life was held at the Community Center in Lovelock, Nevada, at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that friends and family donate to the Fairann Fisk Scholarship for the Creative Arts through Wells Fargo bank.
