Goemmer finishes 11th in reined cow horse at National High School Finals Rodeo

Dally Goemmer turned in an 11th-place finish at the National High School Finals Rodeo that concluded this past Saturday in Rock Springs, Wyo.

Goemmer was tops in her performance on Tuesday, July 14, with a score of 292 points. In her second performance, she was eighth with 277 points and Goemmer scored 282 points in her final performance to finish 11th with 851.50 points.

Goemmer was busy in Wyoming, competing in four other events during her week stay. She placed 27th overall in pole bending with a time of 41.811 seconds. Goemmer was sixth in her Wednesday morning (July 15) performance with a time of 20.80-9 and she was eighth in her Wednesday evening (July 15) performance at 21.002.

She finished 76th in barrel racing, with a combined time of 36.971. She was 15th in her Tuesday, July 14 performance, in a time of 18.428 and she was 21st in her Thursday run at 18.543.

In addition, she took part in breakaway roping and placed 73rd. She recorded a no-time in her first run, but came back on Friday evening to rope her calf in 3.13.

Goemmer competed in girls cutting and scored 134 points in her first performance, but she recorded a no-score in her second performance.

Ladd King, of Kaysville, Utah, was the all-around cowboy with 960. J.D. Reed of Spearman Texas, was second at 800 and Ethan Price, of Leedy, Okla., was third at 710.

Kaytlyn Miller, of Dammeron Valley, Utah, was crowned the all-around cowgirl with 1,600 points. Kelly Valdez, of La Junta, Colo., was second at 1,065. Jayde Atkins, of Broken Bow, Neb., was third at 795.

Daylon Swearingen, of Piffard, N.Y., was named the rookie cowboy with 530 points and Miller was the rookie cowgirl. Battle Mountain’s Dally Goemmer was third in the rookie cowgirl standings with 400 points.

The individual national champions included Brian Brown, La Barge, Wyo., (bareback riding), Miller, Dammeron Valley, Utah, (breakaway roping), Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, La., (goat tying), Colton Kofoed, Bear River, Wyo., (tie-down roping), Ryder Wright, Milford, Utah, (saddle bronc), Gabe Soileau, Bunkie, La., (steer wrestling), Avery Weatherman, Balmorhea, Texas, (pole bending), Garrett McDonald, DeFuniak Springs, Fla./Luke Taylor, Kinston, Ala., (team roping), Ali Armstrong, Lexington, Okla., (barrel racing), Wyatt Covington, Omak, Wash., (bull riding), Jack Jaros, St. Charles, Iowa, (boys cutting) and Sidney Amos, Loma, Colo., (girls cutting).

Utah won the team championship with 10,526.66 points. Texas was second and Louisiana was third. Nevada finished 15th with 2,849.28 points.
