Obituary: Alan Kermit Stein

April 26, 1946 -June 25, 2015

Alan Kermit Stein, 69, resident of Winnemucca, lost his battle with brain cancer at Life Care Center of Reno, Nevada on June 25, 2015. He was born on April 26, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Kermit Stein and Idealia Stein.

He was raised in Minneapolis; he studied as well as graduated from nursing school, but did not practice as a Nurse. He pursued his career by joining the Army and toured in Vietnam. By 1979 he decided that a change needed to be made and he turned a new leaf by leaving his home state of Minnesota, and making Nevada his final home.

Alan owned and operated Imperial Milling and became a Forensic Engineer. He recreated car accident scenes for insurance companies. Alan also was a mining consultant. He took great enjoyment in the dismantling of items and loved to reassemble the items to their former glory, if not making them better than before.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Idealia Skogen Stein, and his brother Bradley D. Stein. Alan is survived by his brother Roger (Cheryl) Tollas who lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota, his Niece, Becky L. (Stein) Millhouse, and his Nephews, Curtis Stein and Steven Stein, his brother Kenath “Rick” Stein who lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Services for Alan Kermit Stein will be held at Sonoma Funeral Home,47 West First St., in Winnemucca on July 14, 2015 at 5:00pm.
