Luther Clayton (Clay) Dossey of Globe, AZ passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Heritage Health Care Center at the age of 80.
Clay was born in Florence, AZ to Arizona pioneers, Rabern Luther (Bob) and Hazel Kathryn Fuel Dossey, on January 29, 1935 and was raised in Coolidge where he played football for the Bears and finished school. He was the last surviving of seven children.
He worked his early years in the cattle industry and building roads and highways under the tutelage of his father in Southern Arizona. He entered the US Army in 1954. After his service to his country, he returned to work primarily in hard rock mines all over the Western States.
He was a man of strong faith. His joy often came from camping and fishing, participating in his children’s activities and travel. He loved to drive cross-country and see what America looked like up close.
Clay came back to Arizona from Nevada to marry an old friend, Gayle Spear Dossey, and they spent many wonderful years living in Globe and making each other happy. He leaves behind a great many beloved family and friends. Clay was very proud of his two children, daughter April (Matthew) Woolsey and their children, Aaron, Jacob and Kylie, and son Michael (Stephanie) Dossey and his children Adam and Mikayla, all of Winnemucca, Nevada. He also leaves three step-children, Charles Spear (Kirsty Burt), Callie Spear (Travis) Embry and Amy Spear (Josh) Walter. His children’s mother, Judy Dossey, remains in Nevada and is also saddened by his passing. Innumerable loving nieces and nephews have kept him close over the years, many of whom were like siblings to their Uncle Clay, and all will sorely miss him.
Funeral services: Interment will be in Valley Memorial Park in Coolidge, AZ. Assisting the family is Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
