Battle Mountain opened the tourney against McDermitt on Thursday and the more experienced Lady Bulldogs came away with a 60-35 win. McDermitt led 18-11 after the first quarter, and used a 36-11 spurt in the second and third quarters.

BMHS comes up short to Wells
Just a couple day before traveling to Virginia City, Battle Mountain beat Wells by four points. However, the Leopards were able to turn the tables on Friday and neat the Lady Longhorns 55-46.
Wells held to Battle Mountain to single digits in each of the first two quarters to go in front 28-15 at halftime. The Lady Longhorns cut the deficit to under 10 points in the final quarter but could not complete the comeback.
Schroeder ended with a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Bhakta had six points and 10 assists and Isabella DeAllah had six points.
“We had beaten Wells on Tuesday (Dec.8),” Tremayne said. “They really outscored us at the free throw line. We need to keep working defensively 55 points is to many to give up.”

“The Eureka game was a very good game for us,” added the coach. “It was close the entire way. We had a great look at the end. I think the girls did a very good job this weekend. We need to work on the defensive side of the ball. We need to really work on rebounding. We start league with North Tahoe next week. We are excited about this portion of the season.”
Battle Mountain hosted Wells on Tuesday and results were not available at press time. The Lady Longhorns start Division III action this weekend in North Tahoe on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at Incline at 1 p.m.
