‘Healthy you’ presentation will discuss year-round skin care

WINNEMUCCA — You are probably in the habit of packing sunscreen for a day at the beach or pool. But with the sun in the sky 365 days a year, you need protection year-round to reduce your lifetime sun-exposure total.

“Everyday exposure counts,” says Humboldt General Hospital Wellness Coordinator Billie Lucero. “You do not have to be actively sunbathing to get a damaging dose of the sun.”

Not only that, but Lucero said what we eat, drink, smoke and expose our skin to can also affect overall skin health.

“Skin is our body’s largest organ,” she said, “and we need to stop taking it for granted and start taking care of it.”

Thursday Dec. 17, Lucero will facilitate “Protect Your Skin All Year Long.” The free lunch presentation is the last in the 2015 lineup of “Healthy Year, Healthy You” seminars that take place on the third Thursday of each month.

This month’s presentation is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, December 17, in the Sarah Winnemucca Conference Room. Lunch will be served and there is no charge to attend; all ages are welcome.
