Grad in the News: Siobhain Mcguinness

A local to Lovelock graduated in the largest winter commencement class at University of Nevada, Reno on Dec. 5.

Siobhain Mcguinness graduated from the College of Liberal Arts with a Bachelor of Arts.

UNR’s winter commencement took place Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Lawlor Events Center and recognized August and December graduates. A total of 1,604 degrees — 1,239 bachelor’s degrees and 365 advanced degrees or certificates (master’s and doctoral degrees) were awarded.

Graduating students — the youngest being 19 years old and the oldest graduate at 75 years old — and faculty leaders assembled at 8 a.m., and the ceremony procession began at 8:15 a.m. University President Marc Johnson delivered the welcoming remarks and the commencement speaker for the ceremony was Amber Joiner, Nevada assemblywoman and 1998-1999 president of the Associated Students of the University of Nevada.
