The Battle Mountain High School basketball and wrestling teams will see its first action of the season this weekend.
The varsity boys and girls basketball teams will be in Hawthorne for the Serpent Classic. The Lady Longhorns are scheduled to play Mineral County, White Pine, Yerington and Lincoln County in the three-day tournament.
The Battle Mountain girls roster for the season includes Sammi Wilson, Yulisa Vazquez, Liscet Diaz, McKenna Jones, Paige Ripley, Riane Schroeder, Abby Melver, Grace Melver, Isabella Deallah, Marissa Rogers and Sruti Bhakta.
The Battle Mountain girls make its home debut on Tuesday, Dec. 15, against Wells at 4:30 p.m. The Division III North season starts with a road trip to North Tahoe on Dec, 18 and Incline on Dec. 19.
The Longhorn boys will make the trip to central Nevada as well for the Serpent Classic. Battle Mountain takes on Virginia City on Thursday at 5:45 p.m., and Pahrump Valley and Yerington on Friday at 11:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., respectively. The Longhorns close out the tournament against Spring Mountain at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Smith Valley at 2:45 p.m.

The Battle Mountain boys roster includes Regan Knight, Jaren Price, Bryan Chavira, Blake Dorian, Miles Piramide, Austin Wallock, Chris Figueroa, Sergio Diaz, Alan Rangel, Ryan Bettany, DJ Potter and Sadonte Johnson.
The Battle Mountain wrestling team will look to win its fourth consecutive Division III championship, and 16th overall, which would tie them for most in Nevada history with Lowry High School.
The Longhorns travel to Idaho this weekend for the Bucks Bags Invitational. Battle Mountain will be at home Tuesday to host Elko in a dual. The Longhorns will also host a two-day tournament on Jan. 29-30, as well as the league duals on Feb. 5-6. The regional championship is set for Feb. 5-6 in Lovelock and the state championships will be Saturday, Feb. 20, in Primm.
