William D. Roberts passed away at his son’s home on August 3, 2015 after a short illness. Bill was born on February 27, 1932 at Walker Mine, California. Bill and his family moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1940. Bill was a miner in Battle Mountain and had a great love of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to read. One of his many gifts to his family was sharing his wisdom and knowledge of the outdoors and a wonderful sense of humor and wit. He was predeceased by his parents, Doyle and Velma Roberts, brother Neil and sister Betty.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Coxie, sister Sue Edgar, daughter and son in law, Barbara and Les Brooks, daughter and son in law, Debbie and Gary Justman, and son and daughter in law, Craig and Anne Roberts. He has ten grandchildren- Shauna (Gabriel) Harris, Jamie (Greg) Wilson, Tracy (Terry) Fagg, Leslie (Shaun) Melton, Mandy (Andy) Bertelson, Hayley (Jesse) Baumgartner, Scott (Laila Kazemi) Roberts, Terry (Dustin) Rasmussen, Maria (Wes) Shoemaker, and Dawn Stotts. He has nineteen great grandchildren to include Josalynn, Riley and Quinn Harris, T.J., Lorynn, and Shaylee Fagg, Sierra and Maielle Wilson, Zoey and Isabella Melton, Egan and Grant Baumgartner, Will, V.J. and Slayden Rasmussen, Amelia, Vivian, and Rosie Shoemaker, Hailie Ferriter and a Bertelson baby on the way. Bill leaves behind a loving family and many dear friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Battle Mountain Civic Center on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 11:00 am. A celebration of life will follow at the Hideaway Restaurant.
