Stannard wins Doc Verner Memorial junior golf tournament

Trevor Stannard shot a 6-over par 78 to win the Doc Verner Memorial junior golf tournament last Wednesday at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course. Fifty-four junior golfers took part in the annual event.

Dillon Patterson was second with a 94 and Steven Bosch and Zane Fifield tied for third with rounds of 97. Dalton Irons and Will Kracaw tied for fifth, each shooting 99 and Kobe Stoker (112) and Zach Wolverton (113) rounded out the boys 15-17-year-old boys division.

Tatyana Carlson carded an 89 to win the girls 15-17-year-old division, while Brooklyn Backus was second at 99.

Bodi Miller claimed the top spot in the boys 13-14-year-old division with a round of 54 and Tyler Neu (56) was second.

Justin Horton led the way in the boys 11-12-year-old age group at 51 and Max Mavity was second with a 53. Cal Peters and Gianni Giordano tied for third with scores of 54 and Tristan Cassinelli (55) was fifth. Hunter Mullins (60), Tristan Valverde (62), Tyler Piquet (67), Ayden Katzenmeyer (70), Dylan Lutzow (73), Sammy Radtke (84), JJ Drobny (84), Seamus Maloon (85) and Tanner Purdy (86) rounded out the scores.

In the 10 and under boys age group, Angelo Bidart won with a round of 37 and Jaden Jimenez was second at 56. Txema Bengochea (58) placed third and Daniel Hinton, Bryan Songer and Logan Pointon tied for fourth with rounds of 65. Carter Cheney (66), John Boyle (67), Luis Mendoza (68). Byron Jimenez (70), Dante Cassinelli (70), Dante Bautista (76), Reicyan Grau (78) and Pete Bengochea (78) concluded the scores in the group.

Lily Landt paced the field in the girls 11-12-year-old age group with a 40 and Megan Li was second at 48. Tea Novi (51) was third and Adia Bengochea (59) and Angelina Martinez (62) were fourth and fifth, respectively. Regan Metcalf placed sixth at 79 and Peyton Jo Cassinelli (85) was seventh.

Marquette Cassinelli won the 10 and under age group for the girls with a 73 and Nadia Novi claimed second place on a tie-breaker with a 74. Greta Layton was third with a 74 and Katlyn Cassinelli and Alia Novi tied for fourth at 75. Paris Castillo (77) and Tessa Jenkins (90) rounded out the age group.
