On Saturday May 23, 2015 Linda Anne McDowell (Saurer) passed away peacefully and her wild ride of a life came to a gentle end. In her final days, she was doted upon and cared for by her siblings and dearest friends.
Linda was born on 11/22/1954 to the proud parents of Harry and Brownie Saurer. She lived the first half of her life in Louisville, KY where she attended Mercy High School and later worked at the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office with her mother Brownie. In the mid 80’s, a strong wind blew Linda out West where she eventually settled in the small community of Battle Mountain, NV. It was there that Linda developed her love for gardening, camping, and watching early morning sunrises from her front porch. Linda was the patron saint of Battle Mountain; she was a stranger to no one and a friend to all. While in Battle Mountain, Linda prepared meals for and provided loving care to her “kids” at The Western Shoshone Battle Mountain Band Elder Center.
Linda is survived by her six siblings, Harry Saurer Jr. (Mindy), Rhonda Henning, Paula Allgood (Jim), Lisa Wones, Cecilia Saurer, Rick Saurer and her 10 nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM. We will meet at Linda’s favorite spot in the Mill Creek Camp Ground to say our final good-byes. Afterwards, there will be a family- style picnic at Kayla Mauldin’s home, located at 765 Broyles Ranch Road beginning around noon. Bring a dish, bring a story, and help us send Linda out in style.
Linda was a character and we loved her dearly.
