ARLINGTON, VA. – Today Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s foremost grassroots advocate for economic freedom, applauded the House of Representatives for their vote to repeal the estate tax, otherwise known as the death tax.
Americans for Prosperity Vice President of Government Affairs Brent Gardner issued the following statement:
“The controversial death tax falls directly on the next generation of Americans and builds harmful distortions and inefficiencies into our economy that hurt everyone by stifling economic growth. It is simply wrong to punish Americans who work hard throughout their lives by confiscating the fruits of their labor when they die.”
AFP launched a legislative agenda called Reform America 2015 earlier this year, and a death tax repeal is one of the key priorities the organization set out.
The agenda includes a set of policy goals that the organization will advance in the coming months, including achievable reforms to health care and energy sectors, and the federal budget process.
AFP, which has chapters in 34 states, has said it will engage its robust network of activists to push for policy reforms outlined in the Reform America 2015 plan.
