Lester Leonard Shaw JR. age 80 passed away at his home in Orvada, Nevada with his loving family by his side after a long battle with cancer.
Lester was born June 9, 1934 in Stockton, California to Lester Leonard Shaw SR. and Ruby (Shaw) Vlaovich. He later married Rita Freitas. Lester grew up in central California and moved to Foothills and then Nevada in 1994 where he farmed.
Lester served his country in the United States (Navy) and fought in the Korean War. He worked at Calaveras Cement for 25 years and farmed. Farming was his first choice of work.
Lester was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons for 45 years and Master of Lodge from 1987-1988 in Murphy, California. In the Winnemucca Lodge #19 he was Treasurer for 14 years and he was a member of the Eastern Star for 30 years and was a worthy Patron many times in California and Nevada, and Worthy Grand Patron of Nevada in 2010.
He enjoyed being with family and collecting old tractors and fixing them up. Lester loved the outdoors, working in the yard and visiting with his neighbors.
Lester was survived by his wife Rita R. Shaw and two children Denise Phillips (Max) and Robert Shaw SR. (Lisa). He had five grandchildren: Robert Shaw JR., Christina Shaw, Andrew and Sam Phillips, and Robert Langley. Great-Grandchildren: Dameon and Phoenix Shaw, Derek and Kayla Phillips. He had two Sisters: Arlene Muratore (Charles) and Andrea King. He also had many nieces and nephews.
Lester was preceded in death by his Father Lester Leonard Shaw SR. (Mabel) and his Mother Ruby Vlaovich and his sisters: Rita Morris, Ramona Bogar and Edith Gable

Services for Lester were held Thursday April 23, 2015 at Sonoma Funeral Home with burial in the Orvada Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Sonoma Funeral Home, Winnemucca, NV. 623-2986.
