A couple weeks ago, White Pine defeated the Battle Mountain High School boys golf team at Mountain View Golf Course.

The Longhorns turned the tables on the Bobcats last Thursday, winning on Ely’s home course with a 432 as the postseason nears in just a couple of weeks.

Despite the windy conditions that greeted the players, Battle Mountain had four players finish in the top six. Braedan Crotteau was second overall with a round of
78 and was only one of two golfers to break 80.

Sean Peasnall (84), Kort Beaver (85) and Toliver Rogers (86) were fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Alan Rangel carded a 99 and Austin Wallock rounded out the scores at 103.

“I was not at this match but I guess the wind was very strong and made conditions difficult,” said BMHS coach Roger Wallock. “Our 432, in such conditions, is impressive in that we didn’t complain about the wind but just went out and performed. Our mental game needs to be that strong at zone in a couple of weeks.”

Battle Mountain travels to Wells on Thursday to play at Chimney Creek Golf Course.
