James (Jim) Ryan passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2015. His heart never recovered from the 2011 loss of his wife, Mary, the love of his life. Jim was a native of Hawthorne, Nevada, he loved Northern Nevada. Jim was a retired teacher from Elko County School District where he taught science at Carlin High School and coached track. He also worked for a period of time for the Department of Defense, but his favorite career was teaching his students. One of Jim’s favorite past times was watching his alma mater, the University of Nevada Wolfpack play football.
James was preceded in death by his wife Mary, daughter Julie Burns, and both his parents. Survivors include: son Zachary Melendrez (Jeanne) of Boston, MA, daughter Karissa Perry (Michael) of Surprise, AZ, son James Ryan Jr. (Patricia) of Elko, NV, sont-in-law Steve Burns of Superior, CO. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, whom he loved very much.
Services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building in Lovelock, Nevada on April 11, 2015. The viewing will begin at 10 am, service will be at 11 am and a graveside service will immediately follow at the Big Meadow Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you donate to the Mary Ryan Music Memorial Scholarship at the Wells Fargo Bank in Lovelock, Nevada.
