Yucca repository on the county agenda

The Humboldt County Commissioners will hold its next meeting on Monday, April 7 at 9:30 a.m.

Items on the agenda include:

• 9:35 a.m., administrative report;

• 9:45 a.m., discussions with City Manager/Engineer Steve West regarding the Wellhead Protection Program;

• 10 a.m., presentation by Michael Fitzsimmons of the National Weather Service's Elko office regarding the county's "Storm Ready" status;

• 10:15 a.m., request from the sheriff's office to transfer the title for the 2009 Chevy Silverado to the communications department;

• 10:25 a.m., adoption of a resolution declaring a nuisance at 4715 West Thomas Canyon Road;

• 10:30 a.m., road matters, including award rock-crusting bids for the North Valley Pit in Orovada; report of pending road department projects, miscellaneous road-related matters;

• 10:45 a.m., presentation of the Investment Policy Update by Humboldt County Treasurer Gina Rackley;

• 11 a.m., presentation and request for support of and possible adoption of Nye County's Resolution in support of the construction and operation of the Yucca Mountain Radioactive Waste Repository provided that the NRC Review and ASLB licensing proceedings conclude that this repository can be safely constructed and operated;

• 11:20 a.m., record of survey for a boundary line adjustment between the city and county for the new animal shelter;

• 11:25 a.m., approval of Memorandum of Understand between the county and Fort McDermitt Paiute and Shoshone Tribe regarding utilization of services of the building department for the travel plaza project on the reservation;

• public comment.
