Xi Alpha Phi holds Fall Harvest Festival

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Xi Alpha Phi Sorority held its 1st Annual Fall Harvest Festival held in the parking lot of the Double B in Battle Mountain on Saturday, Oct. 20.

This sorority group kicks off the holidays in Battle Mountain there is no doubt about that. This festival is very family oriented. Families bring their kids dressed up in their Halloween attire for costume contests and games.

This year, the sorority had a special guest, Larry Wilson a magician and he put a great show on for all the young guests. He did magic tricks and showed the kids how to do some magic tricks.

There were vendor booths selling crafts, jewelry and food. Among the vendor booths the sorority had games for the kids to play such as bean bag toss, go fish, pumpkin decorating and more.

Xi Alpha Phi does a lot for their community. They also have a "Witches Ball" for adults at the Battle Mountain Civic Center.

The sorority uses funds raised for the Christmas Alert Program, Thanksgiving baskets, Save the TaTa's Fund, Breast Cancer Awareness and other community programs that help families in need.

Xi Alpha Phi members are Keesha Avertte, Dannette Walters, Reita Newgard, Carda Burton, Alicia Price, Darcy Drown, Melissa Bakker, Anita Newgard, Bonny Shultz and Brenda Keller.
