WPD handling investigation of alleged dog bite

WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office reported Feb. 2 that it is cooperating fully with an investigation of HCSO narcotics K-9 Zyla allegedly biting a 5-year-old girl. According to a press release from the sheriff's office, dispatch received the call on the afternoon of Jan. 30. Due to the fact that K-9 Zyla is a service animal for the sheriff's office, the call for service was referred to the Winnemucca Police Department for a report and any investigation. Zyla has been quarantined at the handler's residence at the request of the WPD, according to the press release. The sheriff's office reports that the injury is a minor superficial scrape. According to the WPD, the case will be completed and forwarded to the District Attorney's office for review.[[In-content Ad]]
