Workshop will educate public on 'Farm to Fork' legislation

LOVELOCK - It's now legal to sell your yummy creations! A "Cottage Foods & Farm to Fork - Education on the New Legislation" workshop will be presented on Aug. 12 by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.  

The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can attend at the Las Vegas, Logandale or Ely Cooperative Extension offices; in Winnemucca at Great Basin College; in Fallon at Western Nevada College; in Elko at Great Basin College; or in Reno at the Cooperative Extension administration offices on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

Topics covered include understanding regulations, labeling for meeting federal requirements and to maximize marketing potential and advice and ideas from leaders in the field.

Speakers include state and local health departments; Rebecca Neilson, the cottage food coordinator for Utah; Jack Jacob from Jacobs Family Berry Farm; Eric Barrett, Extension Educator from Ohio State; and Laura and Monty Bledsoe from Quail Hollow Farms.  

There is no cost for the workshop in Winnemucca but participants are asked to bring their own lunch. For those attending in Winnemucca, call Connie Beck at 775-623-6304 to register.
