WJHS girls basketball teams open season today in Carson

Warriors make home debut on Sept. 11

The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh and eighth-grade girls basketball teams get their seasons underway today in Carson City and Fernley

The Warriors play Carson Middle School and Eagle Valley in Carson City, beginning at 3 p.m. at Carson Middle School.

Winnemucca will be at home for the first time on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. against Fallon.

Tri-County play begins on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Pershing County High School in Lovelock at 9 a.m. Tri-County action moves to Winnemucca on Saturday, Sept. 20, McDermitt on Saturday, Oct. 4 and the Tri-County Championship will be Saturday, Oct. 11, at 9 a.m.

Winnemucca will be back on the road on Saturday, Sept. 27, to play Fernley and Fallon at 8:30 a.m. in Fernley and Tuesday, Sept. 30, in Fallon at 3:30 p.m.

The eighth-grade team is coached by Daralee Millikan and includes Victoria Tirado, Rebecca Kuskie, Sydney Connors

Julie Garcia, Lily Garcia, Madi McClellan, Brooke Hansen, Hannah Growcock, Hailey Fernandez, Tatyana Carlson, Rachel Garrison, Julianne Montero and player/manager Macy Munroe.

The seventh-grade squad is coached by Grant Beatty and includes Bella Bourquin, Carly Capellan, Kelcey Cooper, Savannah Dalley, Sarah Fernandez, Arianna Galindo, Alyssa Gomez, Hailey Jones, Makayla Leveille, Sierra Maestrejuan, Bailey Raabe, Julia Rivera and Kelcey Smith.[[In-content Ad]]
