Winnemucca Whitewater Swim Team making waves, state tournament ahead in Carson City

The Winnemucca Whitewater Swim Team is a year-round competitive swim team open to swimmers ages 5 to 18.

WWST has been in existence for many years and has most recently acquired two new coaches. The head coach is Lisa Hilbish who swam competitively in high school. The assistant coach is Morgan Troike who was a member of WWST while growing up in Winnemucca and later swam for the Lowry High School swim team.

The squad currently has 35 active swimmers who practice four days a week and they have competed in many USA sanctioned swim meets over the summer and fall.

Winnemucca Whitewater has three swimmers that have qualified to swim in the 2014 Nevada State Championship meet. That group includes Kelsea Perkinson, in the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke, Nate Perkinson in the 50 freestyle and Sota Kawahata 25 backstroke. The state championships take place in Carson City from Nov. 8-11.

The coaches and parents are very proud of all of our swimmers and encourage anyone interested in competitive swimming to contact us. You can find the team on Facebook under Winnemucca White Water Swim Team.
