WINNEMUCCA - Nearly 250 shooters were on hand for the Winnemucca Trap Club-organized Spring Fling Miner - Merchant Shoot on Saturday, April 28.
Most shooters were from northern Nevada but the event had participants as far away as California and included 49 teams with five shooters apiece.
When the Winnemucca Trap Club took over the event four years ago there were around 45-50 shooters. With the expanding numbers there were two new machines, four new shades and expanded parking.
The first-place team winners were Akins Construction of Fallon, which included Ron McGarr, Greg McMillan, Darryl Landwehr, Dave Akins and Dan Prockish. DeLong Drilling was second with team members Todd Delong, Kevin Gallio, Bryce Brumley, Akins and McMillan.
The Men's high silver winners included Tony Martinez, Joel Murphy, Chris Settelmeyer, D.J. Baitia and Brad Wigglesworth. Second-place silver went to Shaun Burdick, Lynn Hammond, Mike Miller and Stephanie Burdick.
The ladies high silver winners were Melissa Murphy, Sharon Kelly, Stacey Brinkerhoff and Sherry Burris, while second-place silver were Joanne Lowden, Judy Black, Karen Schottel and Tina Black. The youth winner included Logan Murphy, Hunter Burrows, Cole Crim, Tad Milich and Taz Burrows.
