Editor: My name is Kayla Jonas and I have the honor of being the publicity chair for the 2013 Winnemucca Relay for Life. Throughout the year I will be submitting letters to keep you up to date on the events of Relay as well as important information on this continuous fight for more birthdays. The American Cancer Society is having a special birthday of its own, 100 years. I feel it is important that our community knows about the programs and information that are available to them 24 hours a day. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, the ACS has information that can help you understand cancer. Go to www.cancer.org or call 1-800-ACS-2345. Whether you know what you need or have no idea where to start, call on us. Our trained specialists help thousands of callers find answers. We are having our Winnemucca Relay kickoff on Feb. 16 in the Comstock Room of the convention center. Doors will open at 11 a.m. for this family friendly event. We will have activities for children as well as the adults. Committee members will be available for questions at the event. We will be having a silent auction as well as a survivor speaker. Please come join us for a day of fun for a great cause. Haven't registered yet? We can help you there too! You can register online at www.winnemuccarelay.org. Hope to see you there.
