Winnemucca plays host to annual fall Pro Am

Golfers from around northern Nevada converged to Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 6, and Sunday, Sept. 7, for the annual fall Winnemucca Pro Am as part of the PGA Sierra Nevada Chapter.

Scott Smith led the way with the professionals with a two-day total of 136, which included a 64 on day two. Issac Sanchez was second ar 137 and Joey Dendary was third at 139.

Pete Summerbell paced the senior professionals at 149 and Rick Longhurst and Bill Phillips tied for second at 157.

On the amateur side, Louis Roman and Foster Kenton III tied for first in the first flight at 1-over par 145. Stephen Summerbell, Jeff Carter and Shane Smith tied for second at 148.

In the net division in the first flight, Bryce Sauer was the winner at 139 and Chris Esquerra was second at 140. Cole Erquiaga and Vince Mendiola tied for third with scores of 141.

Chris Rueda (156) led the way in the second flight and Brad Williams (159) and Patrick Sweeney (160) were second and third, respectively. Alyssa Dendary won the net division in the second flight at 139 and Michael Meckley and Jason Cardenas were second and third, respectively, at 142 and 144.

Wes Teague claimed the title in the third flight with a 173 and Ken Moore was one shot back in second at 174. John Shorter III placed third at 177. Shane Goodale was first in the net division at 137, Joe Leal (138) was second and Dustin Mantha finished third with a 144.

In the team race on Saturday, Sept. 6, Joey Dendary, Joe Dendary, John Moore, Mendiola and Bob Rice were first at 180. Scott Smith, Shane Smith, Sauer, Rueda and William Bauer were second at 190. Sanchez, Cam White, Rodger Wade, Alyssa Dendary and Goodale (193) were third. Mack Tucker, Oscar Tucker, Foster Kenton Jr, Foster Kenton III and Cardenas placed fourth at 194.

On Sunday, Sept. 7, Scott Smith, Shane Smith, Sauer, Rueda and Bauer won at 183. Sanchez, White, Wade, Alyssa Dendary and Goodale finished second at 189. Pete Summerbell, Patrick Sweeney, Dan Sweeney, Dan Sweeney Jr, and Mike Fitzgerald were third at 191.
