High school cowboys and cowgirls from around the west and Canada have converged on Winnemucca this week for the 27th annual Silver State International rodeo at the Winnemucca Events Complex. The rodeo is for contestants that finished fifth through 15th in the final standings of their state or province championships. Close to 500 athletes are competing in the six-day event. There are two performances today at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., with the queen crowing tonight at 5:30 p.m. The top 15 finals take place Saturday at 10 a.m.
