WINNEMUCCA - The Winnemucca Junior High School wrestling team will be well represented at this Saturday's Tah-Neva championships.
The Warriors hosted the Valley Division qualifier for the Tah-Neva League this past Saturday that included teams from White Pine, Eureka, Battle Mountain, Lovelock, Silver Stage and Fernley. The top four finishers in each weight class at the seventh and eighth-grade level advance to the state tournament.
Winnemucca had seven individual champions, including A.J. Gonzalez at 85 pounds, Quint Bell (110) and Seth Duncan (115) at the seventh-grade level.
Austin Robinson (110), Jackson Brown (130), Constatino Starkey (175) and Bryan Ramos (heavyweight) won titles at the eighth-grade level.
Taylor Corak (70), Cade Bell (80), Gary Coleman (105), Landin Gilman (120) and Josiah Chapman (165) placed second in the seventh-grade division. Bryan Day (95), Colton DeLaMora (100), Lorenzo Mattson (115) and Jesus Duarte (heavyweight) finished third.
At the eighth-grade level, Jimmy Rackley (85), Caeden Powers (90), Ryan Johnson (105), Justin DelSoldato (115), Ryan Bourland (160) and Kyle Meyers (heavyweight) were second.
Jonathan Greene (85), Griffin Ellett (175) and Seth Scott (heavyweight) were third and Chapingidza Kavinga (125) was fourth).
The Tah-Neva championships take place Saturday at Fallon, beginning at 9 a.m.
