Winnemucca Junior High girls basketball teams open season today in Carson City

Warriors make home debut on Oct. 1

WINNEMUCCA - The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball teams get their seasons underway today and Saturday in Carson City and Fernley

The Warriors play Carson Middle School and Eagle Valley today in Carson City, beginning at 3 p.m. at Carson Middle School.

Winnemucca will be in Fernley on Saturday to face Fallon and Fernley at 8:30 a.m. at Fernley Intermediate School.

Tri-County play begins on Friday, Sept. 13, at Pershing County High School in Lovelock at 10 a.m. Tri-County action moves to McDermitt on Saturday, Sept. 21, and Battle Mountain on Friday, Sept. 27.

Winnemucca will be back on the road on Saturday, Sept. 28, to play Dayton and Silver Stage at 11 a.m. in Dayton.

The Warriors make their home opener on Tuesday, Oct. 1, against Fallon at 3:30 p.m.

Winnemucca closes out the season at home on Saturday, Oct. 5, when it hosts the Tri-County championship at 9 a.m.

The eighth-grade team is coached by Jack Smith and includes Kristen Barnes, Kepa Bengochea, Emily Cook, Shelby Garrison, Alexis Hansen, Hailey Hinkle, Alyssa Kuskie, Bailey Sapien, Kyllie Sappington, Samantha Diaz, Alily Kliewer and Tailor West

The seventh-grade squad is coached by Larry Renteria and includes Madi McClellan, Rebecca Kuskie, Kailey Hudson, Hailey Fernandez, Julianne Montero, Rachel Garrison, Sydney Connors, Juli Garcia, Lili Garcia, Hannah Growcock, Tatayana Carlson,

Brooke Hansen and manager Macy Munroe.
