WINNEMUCCA - The Winnemucca Community Garden is pleased to announce that its Farmers' Market will take place this Saturday and Saturday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. - noon. The Community Garden is located at 151 W. McArthur Ave. at the intersection of Melarkey and McArthur streets, and across the street from Sonoma Heights Elementary School. Coffee and pastries will be served.
Locally grown fruits and vegetables will be available, and hopefully herbs and cut flowers, too. Produce from the Children's Garden may be available as well, and the children will have a lemonade stand. There will be enterprise vendors and crafting "how to" activities, provided by Tumbleweed Promotions.
Maria Wilson of Battle Mountain will be on site as a food vendor, selling Mexican foods and cotton candy.
Officials are also seeking local gardeners to participate by either selling their produce or donating their produce to the garden to be sold at the Farmers' Market. The idea is for everyone to gather, share, learn and grow as a community. So, come share and show everyone your beautiful zucchini, splendid head of cabbage or fabulous carrots!
