The Winnemucca 11-12 year-old stars did not let the record heat in the region bother them, as they opened play in the Division III All-Star Tournament with a 14-1 victory over White Pine on Sunday evening in Winnemucca. Three other games took place yesterday which included Ruby Mountain against Walker River, Silverada and Elko and High Desert and Lincoln County closed out the action on opening day. Winnemucca played Monday morning but results were not available at press time. The tournament runs through the week with the championship game set for 9 a.m. on Friday. If needed a second title game will be played.
