Wilner, Wade win titles at Winnemucca Amateur

Reno's Jacob Wilner shot a 7-under par 65 last Sunday to take home the top spot at the Winnemucca Amateur held last weekend at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course. Wilner shot a 138 for the two-day event. The tournament featured 22 players in the scratch division and 30 in the net division.

Roman Mudd of Somersett Country Club in Reno was second at 142 and Reno's Dick Wenzel was third with a 144. Winnemucca's Steve Lawson was fourth at 147 and Guy Duensing (Eagle Valley GC), Jeff Herzog (Winnemucca) and Julius Lorentzen (Thunder Canyon CC) tied for fifth with scores of 148.

Troy Scott (151) and Rick Green (153) from Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City were eighth and ninth, respectively. Fallon's Matt Vanderbeek and Reno's Derek Ream tied for 10th at 154.

Other Winnemucca finishers included Gabby Roman (155) in 12th, Cameron White (156) 13th and Jeff Carter (159) was 16th.

Winnemucca's Rodger Wade led the way in the net division with a 4-under par 140, outdistancing the field by two shots. Wade recorded scores of 71 and 69. Justin Durant and Joe Dendary tied for second at 2-under par 142. Matt Morgan (144) was fourth and Ken Kannier (146) was fifth.

John Moore and Tommy Lee tied for sixth with scores of 148, Gregory Sawyer and Past Michael tied for eighth at 149 and Bruce Jackson, Galen Hope, Larry Dunn and Dana Whaley tied for 10th with scores of 150.[[In-content Ad]]
