Bill was born in Queen City, Mo., on Jan. 2, 1924. He moved to Lovelock at the age of 11 to join his parents, Glen and Goldie Story, who moved to Nevada during the Depression to seek work.
After graduation he was drafted in 1943 to serve his country during WWII with the Army and ended up serving with the Marine Corps during the assault on Peleliu Island and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Bill returned to Lovelock where he met his wife Barbara Ann Black and they got married on Jan. 17, 1948. Bill was a butcher for 20 years when he and his wife purchased both the Creamland and Anderson milk businesses, which they combined in Story Distributing Co., which they ran for 25 years.
They then started Story Hour Video, which they ran until retirement.
He was active in the LDS church, VFW and could be counted on to place flags on the Veterans graves on Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
Bill passed away on Dec. 1, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Goldie and his wife of 53 years, Barbara. He is survived by his children Robert, James, Kenneth and Margaret along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and beloved in-laws. He was buried next to his beloved wife Barbara on Dec. 7, 2013.
