Humboldt County commissioners voted their support for the declaration of May 4-11 as Nevada Wildfire Awareness Week. BLM Fire Mitigation and Education Specialist Terah Maslum (left) and Program Manager Derek Messmer recently told the commissioners this year's campaign theme will be "Reduce Fuels, Reduce Fire."Prior to the wildfire awareness week next month, Maslum and Messmer will be putting up posters picturing several residents from around the state doing fuels reduction work on their property. The posters feature a picture of Paradise Valley resident Maureen Smith doing fuels reduction by spraying weeds on her northern Nevada property.[[In-content Ad]]
