"Don't miss the upcoming show from White Sage Theatre!" said the show's director, Sara Claverie.
"The Good Doctor," is a well-known play written by Neil Simon. The comedy, enjoyed on and off Broadway for years, was even at one time made into a TV movie.
According to the play's director, Sara Claverie, White Sage Community Theater has taken a different approach to preparing for this play. "It's called 'tape technique', where you record your lines and then act them out to the recording," said Claverie. "It's a great way to memorize as well as stage a scene; that way the actors can delve into their creativity and really have fun."
Claverie is directing the show with the help of stage manager Vanessa Fuchs, who said, "Tape technique is great because it takes all the work out of memorizing, and it's fun. The laughter that was produced from the practices really helped imprint the lines to memory."
The play is a series of short scenes, acted out as they are written by a 'narrator' representing famous playwright, Anton Chekhov.
"Each scene is witty, ingenious, and this version has nothing to do with a doctor," said Claverie.
White Sage Theater promises an evening of laughs on Fridays May 16 and 23 at 7:30 p.m., or a choice between afternoon or evening laughter on Saturdays May 17 and 24 at 2:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. All performances are at the Martin Hotel on Railroad Street. Admission is $10.[[In-content Ad]]
