Lowry High School's Music Boosters Club is gearing up for the year's big fundraiser - "Where's the Beef?" The March 19 event is a raffle, dinner and concert. The dinner, featuring tri-tip answers the question, "Where's the beef?"

Lowry Music Booster's Club President Marielena Connell said the tri-tip beef dinner will include bread, salad, baked potatoes and desserts provided by parents of band members. Dinner and concert tickets are $20 per person or $150 for an eight-person table.

Anyone wanting to reserve a table may call either Lowry Music Department head Paul Criddle at the high school or Connel at 623- 0755. Raffle tickets, for a chance to win one of three prizes - 50, 75 or 100 pounds of meat - sell for $2 each, and can be purchased from any band member.

Band members are offered the opportunity to work off the cost of the trip by selling raffle tickets.

"We provide scholarships for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to go," said Connel. "But they have to work for it."

Proceeds from the raffle and dinner-concert will help pay the costs for the band to travel to perform in a "Music in the Park" music festival held in San Francisco at Great America.

The dinner starts at 6 p.m. with the concert following.

"The students are excited," said Connell. "Parents help serve as well as providing the desserts, the Martin Hotel is donating the salad and Winnemucca Farms always provides us with their beautiful potatoes for the dinner."

Last year's "Where's the Beef" dinner concert was a success, "We had to set up extra tables," said Connell.

The dinner concert is held in the upstairs Comstock Room in the east hall of the Winnemucca Convention Center.
