A total of 178 medals were awarded to Winnemucca Grammar School students during an assembly on Tuesday, Feb. 24. These medals are awarded for independent reading. Students read for 15 minutes to receive a step. They receive a medal for 100 steps (25 hours of independent reading time), 200 steps (50 hours) and 300 steps (75 hours). The ultimate goal is 400 steps, which is 100 hours of reading time, for each student of the school.
