WINNEMUCCA - Every year approximately 325,000 students participate in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest. This contest is open to students in grades kindergarten through eighth and is separated into private and public schools.
Winnemucca Grammar School is proud to announce a state winner in this contest. Fouzieh Mohamad is a first grader at WGS. Mohamad was entered in the state-level contest after winning the local first-grade contest.
On April 30, she received the award as the Nevada state winner by Assistant Superintendent Dr. Dave Jensen. For her success, Mohamad received a medallion, her teacher received a pen set and the school received a $250 gift certificate.
