Welsch takes over as field representative for RSVP

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) has served persons in need of assistance since 1973; however, its flagship programs are the Home Companion programs, which are designed to extend the time seniors can remain independent in their own homes, rather than be prematurely institutionalized. RSVP has partnered with Newmont Mines to bring more services to Lander County.

Susan Haas, program director for RSVP, announced that Nick Welsch has been working for RSVP in Battle Mountain to assist frail homebound senior citizens.

"Nick Welsch brings his considerable talents, experience and natural enthusiasm to the position of field representative for RSVP in order to assist the seniors of Battle Mountain," she said. "He has been a volunteer in the area for many years and understands the needs of the community."

"I am working in Battle Mountain to assist seniors to remain healthy and happy in their own homes for as long as possible," Welsch said. "This is where they would rather be. It benefits everyone in the community when seniors are allowed to remain in their homes and retain their dignity and the highest quality of life."

Haas said that Welsch can be reached by calling (775) 635-5816. He is actively recruiting both clients and volunteers. Go to www.nevadarualrsvp.org for more information on services and volunteer opportunities.
