WINNEMUCCA - Each year, WDVS sees approximately a 20 percent increase in the number of victims we provide services to. This increase is caused by a growing population and growing public awareness for domestic violence within the community. WDVS helps to connect these victims to vital services.
One client recently stated, "Working with WDVS has been the best experience of my life. Even though I had to go through bad things, the program has fulfilled me as a person and I've learned a lot about myself and what I am capable of. WDVS has become a new family; they helped me with housing, getting my GED, gaining citizenship, and volunteer opportunities. It means a lot to me to have people give up their time to help people like me."
This holiday season, WDVS would like to take an opportunity to thank our wonderful staff and volunteers. Without each of them, we would not be able to provide the services so kindly described above.
The work they commit themselves to can by trying and saddening at times; however, it comes with great rewards. Each volunteer and staff member brings generosity, dedication, and cheer to the work they do. They make WDVS the caring environment it is, and they each deserve a huge thank you.
WDVS operates a 24/7 crisis line (775-421-1028). Calls are accepted by our wonderful volunteers day, night, weekends and holidays. This holiday season, take time to thank these wonderful community members for their dedicated work to such an important community cause.
If you or anyone you know would like volunteer to become a valued member of the WDVS team, please contact the WDVS office to receive an application to match your talents with our needs.
Volunteers are needed for hotline advocates, special event implementation, special event committees, and general office duties.
