Warrior seventh-graders split opening games of the season

WJHS hosts Carson and Pershing County on Friday

WINNEMUCCA - The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh-grade boys basketball team earned a split of its two opening games on Friday, Nov. 2, in Carson City.

The Warriors inched past Eagle Valley 24-22 and lost 35-12 to Carson Middle School.

Winnemucca trailed by two points entering the fourth quarter against Eagle Valley, but was able to outscore the Eagles 9-5 in the final six minutes of play to earn the victory.

Steven Bosch led the way for Winnemucca with nine points. Brayden Jensen scored five points, Domonick Solis and Nathan Kepler each added four points and Ren Mattson had two.

Winnemucca hung tough with Carson for a half, but the Solons pulled away in the third and fourth quarters, outscoring the Warriors 23-7.

Bosch once again was the leading scorer with five points, Jensen finished with four, Kepler two and Seth Duncan had one point.

Winnemucca made its home debut on Thursday, playing host to Fallon and Battle Mountain. Results were not available at press time.

The Warriors are back home tonight to play Carson and Pershing County, beginning at 3 p.m. at Lowry High School.

Winnemucca heads out on the road on Saturday to Fernley to play Fallon and Fernley at 8:30 a.m.
