Warren Bud Hewitt

Warren Bud Hewitt (grandpa) passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 9, 2014. Bud Hewitt was born July 3, 1919 in Pearson, Wis. He attended school in Wis. and entered the Navy in Green Bay in 1936.

His first Navel assignment was on the Great Lakes, and served on the USS Wilmette, USS Arctic and was serving on the USS Zeilin at Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. He continued his war service on the Zeilin in the South Pacific and made over 65 landings.

After his discharge in 1946 his love for the ocean continued and he stayed on the West Coast. He went to work for University of California, Berkley, where he retired in 1975. He then moved to the Reno area where he worked as a finish carpenter on area projects such as the new Reno MGM Grand. His last years were in the Lovelock area with his granddaughter Robbin Burkhart.

He enjoyed the sun, the Green Bay Packers, his family, friends and the Navy stories from the many "ports of call" that he visited.

He is survived by his brother, Bill of Sheboygan, Wis., daughter Kin of Springdale, Ark., daughter-in-law Kathy of Troy, Mo., eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, of 65 years, son, Glen, and daughter, Karen.[[In-content Ad]]
