Voting public, candidates to meet Northern Nevada Republican Women host monthly 'Winnemucca Wednesday' get-togethers

WINNEMUCCA - Not sure who to vote for in upcoming elections? Do you vote for someone because they've been your friend for years or their mother was your third-grade teacher? What is a proposition or ballot measure really saying and will a "No" vote really mean "Yes?"

Take away the uncertainty and come meet your candidates to discuss the issues face-to-face in an informal setting. The Northern Nevada Republican Women host monthly "Winnemucca Wednesday" get-togethers where those running for office can hear your concerns, answer your questions and you can learn about them.

Now in the third year of providing this community service, Winnemucca Wednesday has brought together state, county, city and hopeful candidates of all party affiliations. This year's host facility is Winners Hotel & Casino, located at the intersection of Melarkey Street (U.S. 95) and Winnemucca Boulevard, kitty-corner from the convention center.

These free, monthly meet-n-greets, held on the last Wednesday of the month, are in the lounge beginning at 6 p.m. and lasting between one to two hours, but the public is welcome to "come and go" as fits their schedule. Light appetizers are served and a no-host bar is available in the same room. Wonderful prizes are raffled each meeting and an enjoyable and interesting time is had by all.

Also, for the convenience of the voting public, a voter registration table is set up and individuals who have never voted, or those already registered who need to make a name or address correction or party-affiliation change, may fill-out the voter registration paperwork. It is important to remember that a picture ID (Nevada driver's license or Nevada identification card) or your Social Security card is required.

Grab your friends and neighbors (Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike) and make plans to join the gathering on July 25 and Aug. 29 at the Winners Casino lounge. Become an informed voter in this crucial election year and exercise your right to vote.
