Vivian Chlorice Stokely passed from this world into the Lord's safe keeping on May 1, 2013, at the age of 92.
She was born on Aug. 17, 1920, to parents Jonathan (Tot) and Adel Green in Lovelock, Nev. In Lovelock, she met and married her husband, Harry C. Stokely, and worked as a phone switchboard operator, a job she absolutely loved.
They later moved from Lovelock to Elko, where her husband worked for the Federal Aviation Administration, and also part-time, as a "prospector" for a gold exploration company. There, she was a wife and homemaker and one of her favorite things to do was to accompany her husband on his job-related trips, and when prospecting for gold and staking claims.
Both of them loved fishing and hunting and there were many very memorable camping and vacation trips with us kids. She was also an excellent swimmer and enjoyed going swimming any chance she got.
Vivian loved life and having fun, was a very generous and giving person, rarely without a wonderful smile on her face and always quick to laugh.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry, and is survived by her three children, Wayne Stokely, Janice Farris, and Tammy Parker; four grandchildren, Neil Stokely, Jason Stokely, Daniel Farris, and Kurt Parker; and five great grandchildren, Chloe (pictured), Samuel, NataLee, Alyssa, and Kaitlyn.
On Friday, May 10,, at 2 p.m., a memorial service will be held for Vivian in the chapel at the Burns Funeral Home in Elko, to be followed by a graveside service.[[In-content Ad]]
