Virginia Belanger, lifelong resident of Lovelock, passed away on Nov. 23, 2014 at her Lovelock residence. She was born Aug. 13, 1929 in Lovelock to Antonio and Rufina Omar Gandiaga.
Virginia was affectionately known as "Tia Gin" and she and her husband Leslie owned and operated the Belanger Funeral Home in Lovelock in the 1960s and 1970s. She was also a homemaker and was involved in the Altar Society at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lovelock.
She is survived by her husband Leslie of Lovelock, sons Clyde (Sharon) Belanger of Milbridge, Maine; Brian (Mariann) Belanger of Winnemucca, Nev.; grandchildren, Anya Huston, Brianna Belanger, Nicholas Belanger and Trevor Belanger; great-grandchildren Mila Huston and Kaia Huston, and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
A funeral mass was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment followed the mass in the Belanger family plot at Lone Mountain Cemetery. A reception was held at the church hall. Donations may be made in her memory to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
