Veterans Service Officer to visit Winnemucca May 9

WINNEMUCCA - A Veterans Service Officer will travel throughout the state allowing veterans, military personnel and family members to meet with a representative of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services to learn about benefits and services they may be eligible for but unaware of.

A veterans service officer will be at the Pleasant Senior Center, 1480 Lay St. in Winnemucca, on May 9. The outreach hours are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Appointments are encouraged, as many outreach events have been filling up, according to a news release. Walk-in appointments are welcome, but will only be seen if time permits. 

Veterans are encouraged to check the website www.veterans.nv.gov for updates.

Veterans are advised to bring a copy of their DD-214 discharge document and/or current VA paperwork. If the claim involves dependants, bring birth certificates, current and prior marriage certificates, divorce decrees, and social security numbers.
