Veronica Sallaberry Stinnett

Veronica Sallaberry Stinnett went to be with the Lord on Nov. 2, 2011. Born in Banca France on Feb. 5, 1936, she traveled with her family to the United States in 1947 and settled in Eureka, Nev., where the family lived and ran the Colonade Hotel.

She graduated Valedictorian of her class from Eureka High School in 1955, attended Reno Business College and graduated in 1957. On Nov. 22, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart James Stinnett and they soon moved to Las Vegas, where Veronica worked at the courthouse and handled all affairs for the judge.

Moving to Lovelock in 1963 allowed her to become a stay at home mom, raise her three children, help her husband run his trucking company and became very active in the Catholic Church.

As her life changed, she and her 3 children relocated to Reno where she worked for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office until her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jean and Grace Sallaberry of Eureka; son James T. Stinnett Jr., of Lovelock; and sister Mary Jean Labarry of Eureka.

All who are here to cherish her memory include her daughter Jeaneen Stinnett Miller (Davis) of North Carolina; son Craig R. Stinnett of Lovelock; granddaughters Jenessa R. Bingham of North Carolina, Melissa V. Stinnett of Lovelock, Stephanie M. Stinnett of Reno; sister Albertine Prina of Reno; brother Gracian Sallaberry of Reno; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 9am, Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral, 310 West 2nd Street, Reno 89503. All are welcome to gather and remember the life of a quietly, strong and kind-hearted woman who loved her family, friends and God dearly.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the St. Thomas Cathedral that Veronica loved so dearly. Mountain View Mortuary, 425 Stoker Ave., Reno was entrusted with arrangements.
