Vernon Allen 'Bud' Lloid

Bud Lloid, 88, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2014, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his wife, Gerry and his daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Jeff Cammann and knew he was loved.

Bud was born to Alvie Allen (Jack) and Frances Lucile Lloid (Worthington) on October 11, 1925 in Cascade, Idaho. Bud graduated from Cascade High School and then set out to see the country. He worked as a truck driver in Alaska and other jobs in the Eastern United States before enlisting in our armed forces and fighting for his country in World War II. While in the service, he contracted polio and was not expected to live, but despite the odds against him he survived and thrived. This was typical of his character - he overcame odds. He came to work construction in Reno after being honorably discharged due to his illness. While in Reno, he met Mable Miles and married her and her four children, Linda, Sally, Jenny, and Billy. Bud went to barber school, taking his new young family to open a barbershop in Winnemucca, Nevada. The new Lloid family lived behind the shop at 345 Bridge Street where Bud and Mable welcomed a new baby, Michael Eugene Lloid. Eventually, the Lloids moved to their beloved home on three acres at Warmouth Addition. All of the children grew up in Winnemucca and graduated from Humboldt High/Lowry High School.

Throughout his life, Bud was known as a great sportsman. He won countless awards, accolades and friendly bets, with one of his proudest accomplishments coming in his 81st year: he shot 81 birds and an 81 on the Winnemucca golf course.

On February 16, 1998 Bud married Geraldine Leon. Gerry has been a fabulous wife, friend and companion to Bud and was truly our angel with her tireless and loving care of Bud in his final months.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirley Lemons, granddaughter Jessica Morton, stepdaughter, Dawn Maden.

Bud is survived by Gerry Lloid, Sally Cammann (Jeff), Bill Miles (Kathy), Mike Lloid, Jennifer George (Parley), Linda Burnside (Alan), Dave Haas, Dave Leon (Tina), Nicole Rothlesberger (Kevin), his grandchildren Kathryn Haas, Jacob Haas (Christina), Jennifer Cammann (Sean Olson), Chelsea Cammann, Stacy Watanabe (Blake), Ashley Maden, Daniel Morton (Lisa), Great Grandchild Alese Haas, and Great Great Grandchild Aaliyah Morton.

Bud's family would like to give special thanks to his dear friends Al and Ann Standridge for all of their help-you are amazing! We also want to thank Larry Maden and the Senior Center for their help when it was needed the most. Special thanks and great love to his widow Gerry for her loving sacrifice to our father.

The family had a private gathering to celebrate Bud's life and he will be interred in his beloved Cascade, Idaho at a future celebration.

Arrangements are under the direction of Albertson Funeral Home.[[In-content Ad]]
