Two killed in head-on collision 20 miles south of Jackpot

JACKPOT - The Nevada Highway Patrol said the preliminary investigation reveals that on Friday, Dec. 6, at approximately 5:15 p.m., a silver 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Kenny Laroy Anderson, 39, from Spring Creek, Nev., was traveling southbound on U.S. 93. Craig Steven Hakala, 49, from Twin Falls, Idaho, was driving a red 1995 Ford Explorer northbound on U.S. 93.

Statements indicate that Anderson was attempting to pass a semi-truck with trailer. While passing the semi-truck, Anderson failed to move his vehicle back into the southbound travel lane and hit the Ford Explorer head on. As a result of the crash, both Anderson and Hakala died of their injuries.

A passenger in the 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse sustained critical injuries and was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho.

All occupants were wearing their seatbelts, the NHP said.[[In-content Ad]]
